Filming Experimentation: Narrative Interview Methodology Testing

What do I really want to know here?

For this experiment I wanted to know how I could use my research and understanding of Narrative Interviews to experiment and test if it will connect and answer my research question. I also needed to see if it will support my final design outcome.

Who is my audience?

My audience intended to watch these narrative interviews is young or inexperienced designers wanting to learn more about being a designer and understanding who a designer really is.

How am I going to mix my methodology x methods?

For this experiment I used my understanding of narrative interview methodology to test how I could perform as an interviewer and the outcome of using these methods to collect data and design outputs.

What did I feel/perform in the process of making?

Performing a narrative interview proved quite hard for myself trying to put myself into a interviewer position. I was only interviewing my flat mate who is also a graphic design student but I still seemed to have trouble with my speech and asking the questions clearly.

Did it work? Was the result what I expected? How? Describe?

I would conclude that my test experiment didn’t work because it was not quite a narrative interview and more just a script of questions that were answered. I expected it would be a lot easier to get further narratives and deeper knowledge of designers.
